AMTRON’s bank account hacked; account officer in CID net

According to reports, the bank account of the PSU was hacked and an amount of Rs 2.50 crore was looted through online transfer on November 8.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on November 12 arrested an account officer of the state-run Assam Electronics Development Corporation (AMTRON) after the company’s bank account was hacked and Rs 2.50 crore was looted.  

The account officer, Rahul Huzuri , was produced before the court of the chief judicial magistrate of Kamrup Metro and was send to a four-day Crops of Detectives (COD) custody for further investigation.

According to reports, the bank account of the PSU was hacked and an amount of Rs 2.50 crore was looted through online transfer on November 8.

According the bank statement, the amount was transferred to a named Tarasis which further transferred to another firm. It is also reported that tampering has been done by the Pan Bazar branch of the Bank of Maharashtra.

The AMTRON authorities lodged two complaints in connection to the incident at Pan Bazar police station and Assam CID on November 10 and 11 respectively.

The CID registered a case (CID PS Case No 13/2021) under sections 120(B)/406/420/409 of the Indian Penal Code and 66 IT Act and started an investigation and the Huzuri was brought for questioning.

A CID official said Huzuri had received a mail from the Bank of Maharashtra on November 8. The bank had cleared the amount only after Huzuri’s mail.

However, Huzuri has denied the allegations and said that his mail account was hacked and he was unaware of it.
