Guwahati Nov 7,2017: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's dream of making Assam the sports capital of the country got a shot in the arm on Monday with the unveiling of logo and mascot of Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA) Youth Women's World Boxing Championship in Guwahati. The Chief Minister unveiled an official song, a logo, and a mascot for the first World Championship to be held in the country in over a decade, featuring close to 200 boxers from 38 countries and will act as Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games qualifier.

This has come after the city hosted several matches of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup in October. The AIBA Youth Women's World Boxing Championship will mark the return of big-ticket boxing to India, which last hosted a world championship in 2006 for senior women.

Assam's famed one-horn Rhino was expectedly picked the official mascot, named 'Gappi', while a peppy number sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and composed by Shaan; "we're here to knock you out" was also unveiled as the official song for the event.

The team for the championship is yet to be finalised and is not expected to be out before the November 17 deadline set by the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
