Sikkim Legislative Assembly disqualifies SKM Prez as MLA for conviction in corruption case!

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) President, Prem Singh Golay who was convicted for one year imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 by lower court on the charges of misappropriating government fund while he was a cabinet member in the SDF government has on January 12 been disqualified from the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.


Golay who was the then Animal Husbandry Minister was alleged of misappropriation of Rs 9 lakh 50 thousand meant for the distribution of cows to the beneficiaries. The vigilance department had filed a charge sheet in the court against four others including Golay.


It may be mentioned that for the first time in the history of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, a disqualification of this kind has taken place.
