AGARTALA, Oct 12, 2017: CPM veteran leader and Polit Bureau Member Prakash Karat alleged that the Rashtriya Swam Sevak (RSS) had no role in India’s freedom movement other than the Communists.
“The RSS was set up in India in 1925 and since their establishment to India’s freedom, the RSS had no record of any kind of revolt against the British. Despite having less strong organization, the communists took part in the movement. The RSS fight was not against British but against the Muslim minorities as they focused to make the country into a Hindu nation,” said Karat while addressing on the occasion of 100th anniversary of ‘Great November Revolution’ held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan on Wednesday evening.
Hitting the right wing forces like BJP and its mentor RSS hard for spreading violence in Kerala; Karat said that total 85 Left activists were killed in last 16 years in their sponsored violence.
“The BJP-RSS combine has masterminded violence in Kerala and total 85 of our activists were killed in the violence. In Tripura, they, with the help of IPFT triggered communal violence to disturb the harmony among tribal and non-tribal communities. The BJP consider them as stronger here for the first time after getting few MLAs from other non-Left political parties. Hope, people would foil divisive intentions of the party in future,” he said.
He stressed that the Left democratic programme is the alternative to combat the communal authoritarian of the NDA government.
“Left party would defend securalism in the country and would counter the BJP’s communal authoritarian,” the Polit Bureau member said.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also slammed the BJP and stressed to strengthen their movement by integrating all sections of people in common platform.
