Presidential Poll in Tripura; Speaker casts vote at West Bengal Assembly

AGARTALA, Jul 17: The Tripura MLAs excluding Assembly Speaker on Monday cast their votes in the Presidential elections at Tripura Legislative Assembly.

Speaker of the Assembly – Ramendra Chandra Nath who is in Kolkata, has cast his vote at West Bengal Assembly.

Six Tripura Trinamool Congress defectors have declared to cast their
votes in support of NDA-fielded candidate Ram Nath Kovind.

“We have already announced to cast votes in support of NDA’s
presidential candidate as we would not support the candidate who is
backed by CPM,” Asish Saha, the rebel MLA said.

The Tripura Assembly has 60 MLAs of which 51 are from the ruling Left Front, six from Trinamool Congress and three from Congress.

The three MPs of Tripura, two from Lok Sabha and one from Rajya Sabha cast their votes in the Parliament.

Value of the vote of each MLA is 26 and MP both for Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha is 708.
