NPP calls Megh govt. ‘insensitive’ for declaring Dec 28 & 29 as working days

Shillong, Dec 07, 2017: The decision of the state government to declare 28th and 29th of December as ‘working days’ has given opposition party – National People’s Party (NPP) a chance to hit out at the government while terming its decision as ‘insensitive’.

The NPP condemned the ‘insensitive’ decision of the Dr. Mukul Sangma led Government by declaring December 28 and 29 as working days making it mandatory for all Government servants to attend office.

“Christmas and New Year is a time everyone in Meghalaya cherishes as a time meant for Family and loved ones where everyone comes together to celebrate the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ,” NPP spokesperson, James K Sangma stated in a statement issued here on Thursday.

He said that this action of Dr. Mukul Sangma speaks volumes of his callous and insensitive attitude. It would seem that people are being made to work on these days only to facilitate laying of more Foundation Stones by Dr. Mukul Sangma.

The NPP demands that Dr. Mukul Sangma immediately revokes this order thereby allowing families to be together during this holy and festive season.
