Nagaland out of 69th Junior National Basketball Championship

KOHIMA, May 11, 2018: The Nagaland boys basketball team went down fighting to Jharkhand 37-43 in the final group league match at the 69th junior National Basketball Championship in Ludhiana, Punjab on Wednesday.
The championship which began on May 7 will continue till May 14.
According to reports, the Naga boys were lacklustre in the opening quarter by trailing 00-10 as their opponents seized control at the start.
The team then opened their account through VivikaYeptho’s conversion and managed to share the spoils in the second quarter at 06-06, still trailed 06-16 in the half time.
In the third quarter, the Nagaland team took control of the game 12-09 with Keneingutou powering his team with eight points. In the fourth quarter, they managed a late burst trailing 32-34 at one stage before letting the game slip away in the final period of the quarter, despite limiting the score at 17-17 in the quarter.
Keneingutou tallied 16 points for Naga boys while Mashel Pashel scored eight points. For Jharkhand Sumit scored 15 points and Matab added 14 points.
