Nagaland: Neiphiu Rio elected as leader of NDPP Legislature Party

In a meeting of the NDPP legislature party held on March 5, Neiphiu Rio was unanimously elected as the party leader by the House. The meeting took place at Hotel Vivor in Kohima, Nagaland.

Besides making this appointment, the issue of the Indo-Naga political problem was also put up at the top of NDPP’s agenda.The house also resolved that it would play a key role as a facilitator to make every possible effort to bring about an early resolution which would be acceptable to the people.

The house assured to bring about a positive change through means of providing good governance, transparent administration thereby paving way for a new roadmap for progressive development.

It also appealed to the people to leave behind the ‘bitter experiences of the elections’ behind and to collectively work for overall growth and development.

It maybe mentioned that Nagaland Governor PB acharya has granted 48 hour period to Neiphiu Rio and TR Zeliang to prove their majority in forming the government. However after BJP severed it 15-yr-long ties with NPF yesterday, Zeliang had to tender his resigation paving way for Rio to be the next Chief Minister of Nagaland.
