Nagaland CM allocates portfolios, keeps finance; Dy CM Y Patton gets Home

Ending all speculations, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has finally allocated the portfolios to the council of ministers as per seniority.

The CM keeps Finance, personnel and Administrative reforms and all important policy issues including portfolios not allocated to any minister.

Deputy Chief Minister and leader of BJP legislature Party Y Patton has once again got Home and National Highways. As desired, the BJP managed to get the Home portfolio. Patton had also served as the Home Minister in the TR Zeliang led DAN government.

Agriculture and Cooperation was given to G Kaito Aye, CM Chang got Forest, Environment & Climate Change and parliamentary affairs, Planning & coordination and land revenue was allocated to Neiba Kronu, health and family welfare was allocated to S Pangnyu Phom, Transport, Civil Aviation & Railways and Land resources was allocated to P Paiwang Konyak, Jacob Zhimomi got PHE, Tongpang Ozukum got PWD, urban affairs and municipal affairs was allocated to Metsubo Jamir, Kashiho Sangtam got soil and water conservation and women and child development and Temjen Imna Along got higher and technical education.

It may be mentioned that government formation took place when a 12-member cabinet of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) headed by chief minister Neiphiu Rio was administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor P.B. Acharya on March 8.

The session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly will commence from March 13 till 26.
