Justice Tarun Agarwala will be sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya on February 12, at 5:00 pm at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan here in Shillong.
Justice Tarun Agarwala, former Judge of the Allahabad High Court, was appointed as the new Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court by President Ram Nath Kovind on Feb 6.
Meanwhile, the transfer order of Meghalaya Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, was also approved y the President on the same day. He will assume charge of the office of the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court on or before Feb 20.
Justice Tarun Agarwala was born in March 3, 1956 and graduated in Arts from Allahabad University & Law from University of Allahabad. He enrolled as an advocate on December 9, 1981.
It may be recalled that in the beginning of this year, the collegium recommended the promotion of Justices Tarun Agarwala as CJ of the Meghalaya High Court and Dinesh Meheshwari as CJ of the Karnataka High Court and recommendations received the approval of the President.
