Meghalaya rape & trafficking case: 14th culprit under police net

SHILLONG: Police have arrested one more accused in connection with the rape and trafficking of a 14-year-old girl in the city.
After the minor girl identified a fruit seller from Madanrting, Sanwar Hussain, who also raped her, the accused was arrested by the police team from the area on Monday.

He was remanded to police custody for three days by a local court on Tuesday. With this the number of people arrested in the sex racket case has gone up to 14. Meanwhile, CSWO has also filed an FIR in this connection.

It may be mentioned that earlier, after the District Council poll debacle, Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh and his son Nathaniel Osbert Rymmai were in trouble after their guest house at Rilbong was raided by police and a waiter was arrested on for a case related to trafficking of a minor girl aged 14 allegedly for prostitution. Since then, various influential leaders have come under the radar and 15 arrests have been made so far pertaining to the case.
