Taking on the BJP, senior Congress leader and party spokesperson, Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that the saffron party always accuses the Congress of appeasing the people but the reality is that — it is the BJP that is trying to appease the people of Meghalaya.
“The BJP is trying to appease the churches by offering Rs 70 crore just to win the votes,” Lyngdoh made this remark a day after the BJP had released the chargesheet against the Congress.
He also said that the BJP is only trying to defame the Congress by making accusations which are totally not true.
While claiming that the Congress led MUA Government in the past nine years has done many things for the good of the State, the Congress spokesperson said that it is the Congress Government which created more districts and civil sub division so as to bring the administration closer to the people adding that this has really speed up the development in the State.
He also said that the Congress Government has managed to contain the problem militancy and also created its own Special Force (SF-10) so that the State does not depend on Central Armed Forces to contain militancy.
“This force is managed by our youths and how can the BJP say that we have not created any job,” Lyngdoh said while maintaining that the BJP Government at the Centre has nothing to show and hence they are trying to mislead people.
He, however, accused the BJP of plotting to divide the people of Meghalaya and the nation.
Lyngdoh also urged upon the people of the State to reject communal forces like that BJP. He also lambasted the NPP national president, Conrad K Sangma for trying to deny the close association his party has with the BJP.
Meanwhile, throwing similar tantrums against the Congress, the BJP on Friday alleged the Congress of trying to force the Church into politics, by trying to mislead and misuse the Church for political reasons. “This is confirmed that the congress has no agenda except by trying to communalise this election,” BJP National spokesperson Nalin Kohli said.
“Its been 15 years of lack of performance by the Congress and its an interesting election where the Congress party has chosen not to want to fight on its performance, doesn’t want to refer to the promises it had made and is trying to create false bogies of a BJP having divisive agenda and as far as winning seats is concerned, we will form the government here,” Kohli said.
