The United Democratic Party (UDP) has projected itself along with its ally Garo National Council (GNC) as the only viable alternative to the people of Garo Hills in the midst of the corruption of the Congress led government and the allegedly anti – Christian leanings of the BJP. The party also hit out at the tall promises of NPP and the Congress, calling it as a show of desperation by both parties.
The statement came today from the UDP secretary, Linden Ch Momin who firstly condemned the denial of visa to Christian preacher, Dr Paul Msiza for the recently concluded ABDK Sobha held at Rajasimla as part of the 150 year celebration of Christianity in Garo Hills.
“This denial of visa is widely condemned and for us has also dented the chances of BJP in the state,” said Linden.
Blaming the Congress for the past decade of misrule in the state, the UDP felt that misrule and corruption would ensure that the Congress would fail in most constituencies of Garo Hills – once considered their bastion.
“Both NPP and Congress has been making tall promises through their movement across the region. They are also using social media to make similar statements using the latest technologies. These promises are impossible to fulfill and shows how desperate both parties have become,” said Linden.
Basing his stance on the above mentioned reasons, the UDP-GNC alliance considered itself to be the only option for the people of Garo Hills.
“We are hopeful of giving the people of Garo Hills a surprising result in 2018 Assembly election,” said the UDP secretary.
