In yet another political battle and war of words between the two national parties in the state — Congress and the National People’s Party (NPP), the former has blamed the latter for helping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to make in-road in Meghalaya.
“The NPP is playing a major role to help the BJP create its strong based in Meghalaya,” All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) chief Sushmit Dev said while addressing members of the Mahila Congress in Meghalaya here on Thursday.
She said that the MP of Tura and NPP Chief Conrad K Sangma is responsible for helping the BJP to make it presence felt in Meghalaya.
While further attacking the NPP chief, AIMC chief said that he (Conrad) should have fought against the communal forces like the BJP instead of helping them.
“The NPP is the team B of the BJP. Therefore, it is makes no difference whether you vote for the NPP or the BJP,” the AIMC chief said.
While asserting that it is important to protect the State from the communal forces, she said that the BJP will destroy the peace and tranquility in Meghalaya.
She alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his army of RSS wants Meghalaya and other North Eastern states because they know that they will lose in many northern states of the country in the 2019 Assembly elections, hence they want to cover the loss from North Eastern states.
“I guarantee that they will divide and destroy the peace of Meghalaya,” she said.
Claiming that the it was the Congress which made the Guwahati-Shillong four lane road, Dev continued her attack on the BJP and asked people not to give inroad to a ‘saffron’ and ‘communal’ party like the BJP in Meghalaya.
The meeting was also attended by Shillong MP Vincent Pala, Central leaders and woman workers of the Congress in a jam packed state central library.
