SHILLONG: The Meghalaya state unit of the BJP has demoted its long time general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty in a major reshuffling of office bearers in the party in the state and inducted 48 others as executive members.
BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh has appointed David Kharsati and Pramod Koch as general secretaries while Edmund Sangma and D D Sohphoh were made national council members.
Five vice presidents and an equal number of secretaries were appointed whose areas of charge are clearly mentioned across the state.
Egenstar Kurkalang retained to be the Yuva Morcha president while Fairly B Kharrngi was made Kisan Morcha president and Rocky R Marak as Kisan Morcha general secretary.
The reshuffling in the party is significant in view of the party looking forward to contest in a good number of seats in the 2018 assembly elections in the state.
