Nongkrem constituency NPP candidate, Hispreaching Son Shylla has urged the Election department to take stringent action against the HSPDP president, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by holding a public meeting at Mawmuthoh village on February 2 last without getting the permission from the Returning Officer.
Addressing newsmen here on Tuesday, Shylla said that the HSPDP had shifted the public meeting to the premises of the party workers after the Executive Committee of the Mawmuthoh Dorbar Shnong denied permission to hold the meeting at the community hall after they were informed that the part had not got the permission from the returning officer.
While divulging the detail scheduled of the public meeting of HSPDP which was signed by the president of Nongkrem constituency D Pyngrope, working president K Mylliempdah and secretary H Riang, he said that as per the schedule, the HSPDP has fixed to hold the public meeting at Mawmuthoh village even though the party later denied that it was only an internal meeting of the workers of the party.
The NPP candidate also said that the decision of the Rangbah Shnong of the village is totally justified since no Dorbar Shnong will give permission to any political meeting without the prior permission of the concerned Returning Officer.
“It is really unfortunate that he (Basaiawmoit) had even threatened the Rangbah Shnong,” he said.
Wn asked on the allegations made by the HSPDP Mawmuthoh unit that the Rangbah Shnong is his supporter, he said that this is only an attempt on the part of the HSPDP to divert issue.
“We are talking about the violation of the moral code of conduct by holding of the meeting without the permission of the Returning Officer,” he said.
