Meghalaya: Congress likely to release 2nd candidates’ list for 3 remaining seats by tomorrow

By Our Reporter, TNT News | Shillong, Feb 02, 2018:

As the last date for filing of nomination papers draw closer, the Congress is likely to release the 2nd list of candidates for three remaining seats, for the ensuing assembly polls in the state, by today or tomorrow.

According to MPCC sources, the party will likely release the 2nd list by today or tomorrow.

It may be mentioned that the party has released the list of 57 candidates last week while stating that the party was unable to find probable candidates for the three remaining seats — Khliehriat, South Shillong and Pynthorumkhrah.

It seems that the Congress is finding it difficult to find a suitable candidate who will be competing against former congress legislator AL Hek from Pynthorumkhrah, former NCP leader Sanbor Shullai from South Shillong and former Independent legislator Justine Dkhar from Khliehriat, all of whom will be contesting the forthcoming polls from a BJP ticket.

Similarly, the BJP which had earlier stated that it will contest all 60 seats in the ensuing election, has released the first list of 45 candidates on Friday and the remaining 15 seats will be announced later.
