Shillong, November 17, 2017: The National People’s Party (NPP) will decide its Chief Ministerial candidate depending on the seats won by the party from each region during the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections.
“Our Chief Minister candidate will be from the region which wins maximum number of seats. We are adopting a unique formula to select the Chief Ministerial candidate of the party,” NPP state president, WR Kharlukhi told newsmen here on Friday.
Meanwhile, Kharlukhi informed that the party will soon come out with its Mission document.
“The preparation of the mission documents is in the final stages,” he said.
While denying that the MLAs and former Ministers have joined the party looking for greener pastures, he said that they are attracted to join the party due to its leadership.
He further stated that the party will go alone in the upcoming election in Meghalaya despite being an alliance of the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre.
“We are planning to release the second and third list of party candidates in few weeks time,” NPP state president said.
Earlier, former Congress MDC from Pynursla, Jansing Tynsong and Sohryngkham MDC, Pyniaid Sing Syiem has officially joined the NPP on Friday.
