Meghalaya: Authorities to release water from Umiam Dam owing to increased water level!

August 11, 2017: The incessant rainfall in the past few days has caused a lot of destruction not only in parts of Meghalaya but also in various parts of Northeast India. In view of this, MePGCL, Shillong has informed that due to incessant rain during the last few days, the water level of the Umiam Reservoir as on August 11 at 10.00 am is 3214.02 ft and likely to cross the danger level of 3215 ft.

It has been ascertained that in case of continued rainfall, the catchment area of the Umiam Dam may become full leading them to releasing the water by opening the gates of the Umiam Dam to allow water to pass.
