Shillong, Dec 07, 2017: As many as 5 people sustained injuries in road traffic accidents which occurred in three different places in the state.
In the first case, three people sustained injuries in an accident that happened in Mawryngkneng East Khasi Hills today noon at around 11:50 AM when one Alto 800 tourist taxi coming from Shillong to Jowai met with an accident with a Toyota Fortuner that was coming from the opposite direction.
It was stated that the incident happened just before reaching Mawryngkneng along a straight road as both the vehicles were in a high speed. Three occupants of the Alto 800 sustained multiple injuries whereas no casualty were reported from the other vehicle.
The three injured victims have been identified as Resting Tariang (27), Baiodoris Chen (40) and Sumarlin Lyngdoh (42).
In another incident, one 25-year old man sustained severe injuries when the bike that he was riding collided with a local taxi near DI office in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills at around 2:20 pm.
The injured victim has been identified as Lidius Jyrwa from Seinduli, West Khasi Hills. This incident happened when Lidius was on his way to Umjahlang from Nongstoin but on reaching DI office in Nongstoin, the bike that he was riding went head on and hit the local taxi that was coming from the opposite direction leaving him severely injured.
In yet another incident, a 20 year old young man Walsrang G Momin, sustained injury after he fell down from a moving auto. This incident happened in Naringre 10 Kms away from Rongjeng in East Garo Hills at around 10:30 am.
It was told that the auto rickshaw which was full of passengers was on the way to Jamge when the incident happened. But on reaching Naringre in a curve, Walsrang lost his grip and fell down from this moving auto.
The 108 services based in various locations were pushed into action and injured persons were later shifted to respective hospitals located within the vicinity of the accident spots.
