Meghalaya: 3 people confirmed spot dead after tree crushes vehicles in Shillong!

August 12, 2017:  Incessant rains in Meghalaya for the past three days has wreaked havoc across the state with landslides, floods, fallen trees reported in several parts of Meghalaya. The most recent incident is the tragic accident at AG Point near Raj Bhavan in Shillong where four vehicles were damaged, wherein one of the damaged vehicles, which was reported to have 2 occupants inside was completely crushed. In an update to the given incident, 3 people have been confirmed spot dead. The deceased were occupants of the local taxis that were among the 5 vehicles crushed due to the falling of a massive tree today.

The 108 ambulance from Shillong civil, Mawphlang and Umiam were dispatched for this case where they have shifted 4 victims of which three were shifted first and were reported brought dead by the doctor in shiilong civil hospital. It took about 30 minutes to extricate the first three victims.

The other injured victim N Wahlang 51 F were shifted later after it took one hour to take her out from the crushed vehicles.

Two of the three victims have been indentified as Cyrstal Kharnaior (23) from Mawlai Nongkwar. She is also the daughter of renowned artist from Shillong Raphael Warjri. Another person has been identified as Paul Lyngdoh (50) from Nongshilliang.
