IMPHAL, April 27, 2018: The next round of tripartite talk on the district creation issue slated for April 27, Friday, has been deferred for few days. Sources said this evening that the talk was deferred due to some ‘exigencies’ of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.
However, it is not known whether a new date has been fixed for the next round of talk. The last talk, the sixth round, was held on March 23, 2018.
The first round of talk was held on March 19, 2017. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been chairing all the talks. It is worth noting here that the UNC had imposed economic blockade in all the national highways which pass through Manipur for 139 days in protest against the creation of new districts by the the previous Ibobi Singh led Government.
