Manipur: Home Guard personnel’s bid to storm CM bungalow foiled

IMPHAL, June 28: Police stopped home guard personnel using mock bombs at Uripok flyover bridge while they were proceeding to the chief minister’s bungalow to demand a hike in their salary and other facilities.

The home guard personnel said that they were getting just Rs 5000 per month even though they perform all duties assigned to security personnel. There was no untoward incident during the scuffle between the home guards personnel and police.

The police allowed five representatives of the association to meet and present a memorandum to the chief minister.

They reminded that the Supreme Court on March 11, 2015 had given directive to provide adequate money and the High Court had ruled in favour of the personnel however the file was not processed they alleged.
