Manipur HDFC bank loot case update: Police arrests two

IMPHAL: In a major breakthrough, Manipur police detained two robbers in connection with the sensational HDFC bank , Thoubal branch robbery case.

Sources identified the arrested robbers as Thokchom Dilip, 50, of Thokchom village, Thoubal district and Thiyam Arjun, 23, of Charangpat Mayai Leikai, also from the same district.

A sum of Rs 7.50 lakh in cash and gold ornaments of the value of Rs 50 lakh which were a part of the loot taken from the bank were recovered from their possession.

As per reports, cash totalling around Rs 1.02 crore and gold ornaments worth Rs 2.6 crore were looted from the bank which is located near the Thoubal DC office.

Thoubal district police had launched search operations in different areas of the district immediately after receiving the news of the robbery and during the ensuing manhunt the two robbers were apprehended along with the cash and jewelleries.

Meanwhile, police are interrogating the arrested robbers to extract information about their remaining accomplices.
