Tripura: Election to BJP state president’s post likely to be held on Dec 25

The election to the BJP state president which was supposed to take place on December 15, has been postponed till December 25 due to unavoidable circumstances, according to sources.

Three levels of organization elections- booth, mandal and district have already been completed and the stage was set to hold the elections to the party's state president post.

"Due to unavoidable circumstances, the state president level election has been postponed and new date will be declared shortly" said a senior leader here today.

Agitation centering Citizenship Amendment Bill (read Act) was the reason behind postponement of the state party president election. This has been done following instruction from the party's central election committee.

BJP organizational general secretary, Ajay Jamwal, who arrived here yesterday, will have a meeting with party leaders to review the socio political situation in Tripura in the aftermath of CAB (read Act) protest. Side by side, Jamwal would review the party's preparedness for the upcoming ADC elections.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who is the party president, has already begun visiting some villages to measure the people's pulse. Many say it was an election campaign by the Chief Minister.
