Tripura: CPF, Mizo NGOs call indefinite strike from Feb 26 in Kanchanpur

AGARTALA | Feb 25:

Uncertainty still looms large over Kanchanpur as the "Nagarik Surakhsa Mancha" (Citizens Protection Forum) and six Mizo NGOs have decided to go ahead with indefinite strike from tomorrow (26th February) from 6am to 6pm to pressurise the government to meet their three-point charter of demands.

The demands included — Rehabilitation package for Bengali families, rehabilitation for Mizo families purportedly displaced in North Tripura, and immediate resumption of relief for 93 families living in Anandabazar police station since December 10 last year.

The organisations have further alleged that daily relief of Rs 2,000, which was being supplied to them was stopped on February 18.

Kanchanpur, Nagarik Suraksha Mancha president Ranjit Kumar Nath said, people are being evicted from their own land and are residing in the camps.
