Nagaland: Photos of newly wed couple sparks controversy; Guv directs DGP to register case

The recent viral photograph of a newly wed couple brandishing sophisticated assault rifles at their wedding has sparked controversy on social media.

The Governor of Nagaland RN Ravi, also the interlocutor of Naga peace talk while taking a serious note on the recent viral photos has directed state's Director General of Police (DGP) to take action and asked the DGP to arrest the culprits and register a criminal case against those involved and seize the guns.

According to Ravi, police officials have been directed to initiate action against the couple and other accomplices.

Meanwhile, Ravi said that the DGP of Nagaland has been directed to take strict action against those wielding guns and their fathers and others who were accomplice. Such activities were not acceptable and intolerable, he said, "this cant be taken lightly. This is an ugly and crude manifestation of gun culture.

As per reports, the DGP has asked CP of Dimapur to initiate action following the incident.

It is to be mentioned that the photograph of a couple brandishing sophisticated assault rifles was taken in a wedding on Saturday. The groom is reportedly the son of Kilo Kilonser of the militant National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Unification (NSCN-U) and were seen brandishing automatic rifles – M16 and AK 56 – during the wedding reception attended by their invited guests.
