Nagaland CM mourns demise of senior NPF MLA T Torechu

The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, expressing profound grief offers a condolence message over the demise of T. Torechu, senior Naga People's Front (NPF) leader and MLA, 60 Pungro Kiphire Assembly Constituency, who passed away in Dimapur on December 16.

In the condolence message, the CM said "I had known Mr. Torechu for more than a decade and we had worked together in the previous Governments as colleagues under my Chief Ministership. I found him to be sincere and committed in his service to the people. He served as a Government Teacher and first contested in the General Election in 1982. He represented his Constituency for 4 consecutive terms till date".

Rio added, "He was a simple, hardworking and down to earth man who was always in touch with the masses. He was soft spoken and his enthusiasm in serving the people made the public love him".

"I last visited him on 13th December, 2019 at the Hospital but I had no inkling that fate would take him away from us so soon. It is indeed a great loss to all of us as we have lost a friend, a brother, a fellow colleague and most importantly a leader whose presence will be dearly missed. The vacuum created by his demise will be difficult to fill it" he said.

The CM prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
