Meghalaya:”I will commit suicide if CAB is passed”: BJP MP candidate Sanbor Shullai

As polling for the 1st phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 is underway in Meghalaya for the two Parliamentary seats: Shillong and Tura, the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) has been an issue of debate for the ruling as well as the opposition parties this time round.

In tandem with this, BJP MP Candidate for Shillong Parliamentary Constituency Sanbor Shullai has made a striking statement today and said, "CAB will not be implemented as long as Sanbor Shullai is alive. I will kill myself, I will suicide but will not allow CAB to be implemented in Meghalaya and Northeast India".

He further said that he has no problem with the implementation of CAB in any part of India by the BJP Central leadership but the same should not be put into effect in the Northeast Indian states.

"I do not mind the implementation of CAB in any other part of India but there needs to be an amendment in the principal bill of the CAB that this Bill should be exempted from Meghalaya and Northeast. This is my demand. I have also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the honourable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi".

Apart from CAB, the MP candidate also expressed his concerns over rampant practice of illegal coal mining in Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills, Boundary Dispute, unemployment and other issues.
