Meghalaya teachers’ body threatens PIL over pending arrears issue

The All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers Association (AMSSASTA) on Friday served a 5-day ultimatum to the state government of the release of their pending 4 months salaries while also threatening to go on a week's strike in schools if the government failed to release their salaries.
The decision was taken during its executive meeting in Shillong today.
The meeting between the teachers also sought the enhancement of the salary of teachers to Rs 40,000 at par with other states.
After the meeting, the leaders of AMSSASTA met Education Minister and SPD (State Project Director) respectively who said that the pending salaries shall be released either in the second or third week of the month of March.
