TURA | MARCH 21, 2020:

Amid the rapid spread of coronavirus cases around the globe, a social activist, Ishraful Hoque had questioned the absence of a lab technician from the Phulbari CHC, who had gone without informing the authorities in West Garo Hills.

As per information received, the lab technician in question, Abigail Ch Momin, has gone missing from the office since Mar 17.

"She has not informed any of the hospital authorities about her going on leave and it seems this is a very regular happening with her. When we spoke to the CHC in-charge, he too said that they were not informed about her whereabouts and were unable to contact the person," said Hoque.

Hoque said that the act of the lab technician during this time of crisis was beyond understanding.

"While everywhere the medical fraternity has been spending sleepless nights to care for patients, she has gone and taken off without notice. Her work right now is one of the most important and we demand a strong inquiry into her absence from work," added Hoque.

Hospital authorities when contacted confirmed the development adding that they were unable to contact the lab technician.

The deputy commissioner of WGH, Ram Singh, when contacted informed that the matter would be looked into and action would follow accordingly.
