When contacted, MLP 6th Battallion commandant, Herbert G Lyngdoh informed that the personnnel, probably, must be suffering from depression which compelled him to take such extreme steps.

According to Lyngdoh, the place where they have been posted for election duty is quite far from Kolkata.
