Meghalaya: Number of Nigerians’ detainees go up; 3 more arrested in Khliehriat

Yet again! the East Jaintia Hills police have arrested three more Nigerian nationals without proper valid documents on Saturday night.

The trio has been identified as Amadi Chinedu Kingsley (32 years), Ohajiuba Malachy (22 years) both hailing from Imo, Nigeria and Obey Sunny (38years) from Lagos, Nigeria.

According to latest reports, the three Nigerian nationals were detained at Khlieriat on September 14 at around 11:45 PM.They were apprehended while travelling in a night super bus from Silchar to Guwahati. The trio was unable to produce any sort of documents or valid passport to support their entry into India.

Earlier on September 13, in a similar incident, the Meghalaya police had detained three Nigerian nationals who were traveling in a night super bus from Silchar to Guwahati who had admitted that they travelled from Africa to Bangladesh by air on the strength of Visa duly granted to them by the competent authorities but illegally entered into India near Agartala in Tripura in the morning of September 12.

On September 14, a day after the three were arrested, six more Nigerians were detained by EJH police at Ratacherra.

It may be mentioned that with thr latest arrest, the total number of detainees has gone up to 12.

A case has been registered at Lumshnong police station under 41(9)19 u/s 14/144A/14C Foreigner's Act. Investigation is on.
