Meghalaya: NGO warns individuals collecting money in organisation’s name

After the incident of miscreants collecting money in the name of NGOs came into light, the Indigenous Citizens' Forum of Simsanggre (ICFS) have strictly warned the miscreants even as they stated that strict action will be taken against them.

The NGO is based in the town of Williamnagar in EGH.

In a release sent on Thursday, the president of the NGO, Mandrake Sangma said, "It has come to our notice that some individuals are using the name of ICFS and indulging in collection of money from shop keepers in Williamnagar Bazaar and its adjourning areas. Their intention is malafide and they wish to tarnish the image of the NGO."

The NGO, after this information, sat down today, Sep 5, with its members to discuss the future course of action in the matter.

"The matter is very serious in nature and after a discussion with our members to protect the name of our organization. We urge upon those individuals collecting money in our name to stop such immoral, criminal activities with immediate effect. We will not be mute spectators," they added.
