TURA | April 04, 2019:

A miscreant allegedly attempted to rob the office of the principal of the Phukan Memorial College in Dalu, close to the border with Bangladesh during the wee hours of April 4.

West Garo Hills (WGH) police suspect the hand of a local miscreant. According to sources, the alleged miscreant entered the office of the principal at about 1 am this morning.

"The lock was broken to my office as well as the temporary godown and tried to take everything of value. However in trying to do so he created a lot of noise which alerted the watchman. The person (s) fled the scene when an alarm was raised," said principal of the college, Dimseng Marak.

The principal this morning filed a FIR in the Dalu police station following which an investigation has begun.

"The watchman provided details of the person who was working alone and has been identified as a local. We are working on nabbing the miscreant," stated WGH district police chief, Dr MGR Kumar.
