Meghalaya: Ferlin CA Sangma takes oath as MLA; Education & road connectivity prime area of focus

Newly elected MLA from Selsella constituency, Ferlin CA Sangma was sworn in as a member of the 10th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly by the Speaker of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Donkupar Roy at the Old Assembly Secretariat, Shillong today.

Addressing media persons after the swearing-in-ceremony, the bureaucrat turned politician, Ferlin Sangma stated that she is committed to work for the development of the people of her constituency.

She said that Selsella constituency is one of the under-developed constituencies adding that she has an uphill task to climb in the next four years to work for the growth and development of her constituency. Informing that she will lay special emphasis on education and road connectivity, Sangma further said that she is prepared to serve the people in the capacity of a politician.

It may be mentioned that in the recently concluded Selsella by poll which was necessitated after the demise of Congress MLA Clement Marak, Ferlin CA Sangma defeated her nearest rival June Eliana Marak of the Congress by a margin of 4,396 votes.

The NPP has further added to its tally in the 60-member State Assembly increasing it to 21.
