SHILLONG | March 02, 2019:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday expressed his gratitude to the people of Jaintia Hills and Khasi Hills for "reposing their faith on the National People's Party (NPP) and all the constituents of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance".

Sending a message to the voters after the declaration of the KHADC and JHADC polls today, Sangma said "I can assure the people of Jaintia and Khasi Hills and the whole state that the MDA government will continue to take the state forward."

"With this new mandate in the JHADC and KHADC, we will work unitedly to take the the district councils, the government and the state forward together," he added.

It may be mentioned that in the KHADC, the Congress secured the highest number of seats with 11 wins, NPP won in 7 seats followed by UDP in 6 seats, HSPDP in 2, PDF in 1 and three independent candidates.

In JHADC, NPP secured the highest number of seats with 12 wins followed by UDP with 10 seats, Congress in 4 seats and independent in 3 seats.

Earlier, the Congress had approached the UDP to form the executive committee in the KHADC but UDP president, Dr Donkupar Roy has something else in mind. The latter hinted at the possibility of forming the EC both at KHADC and JHADC with the support of MDA allies — HSPDP, NPP and PDF.
