Meghalaya celebrates Teachers’ Day

SHILLONG | September 6, 2019:

Together with the rest of the nation, Teachers' Day was also celebrated in Mairang on Thursday, which was organised by The Office of the Sub – Divisional School Education Officer, Mairangin collaboration with The Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Mairang at Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School.

The Chief guest for the event was MDC Mairang Constituency Batskhem Ryntathiang.

While addressing the event, Ryntathiang said,"your success, your obedience and the respect you show is the best gift you can give to your teachers and that makes the hard-work they put in, worth it"

Ryntathiang further said that in this day and age everyone is knowledgeable but very few have wisdom. He asserted "In order to not only be knowledgeable but to also be wise, my dear students, remember that knowledge comes from books but wisdom comes from God, hence we must first fear God and secondly we must live a respectful life".

The occasion was marked with The Sub – Divisional Teachers'Award 2019 being awarded to Smt TwinsnolianLawriniang from PungsaniangGovt Lower Primary School, Smt Bandalinsha Marbaniang from Bynther Lower Primary School in the Lower Primary Category.

In the Upper Primary category the award was given to Smt Bahun Ryntathiang, Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School (Upper Primary Section) and Smt Bhalen Lyngdoh from Langtor Upper Primary School. Shri Fabianrichfield Syiem from Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School was the awardee from the Secondary Category and Smt Evangeline Ruth Lyngdoh from Langtor Higher Secondary School was the awardee from the Higher Secondary Category.

On the sidelines, I Slong, CDPO, Mairang gave the gathering an insight about Rashtriya POSHAN Maah and said that 'Poshan' stands for Prime Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition and it aims to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children while it targets to reduce level of under-nutrition and other related problems by ensuring convergence of various nutrition related schemes.

Also present in the occasion were SDO Mairang Civil Sub – Division, A Nongbri, RR Lamare, I/C Sub – Divisional School Education Officer, Mairang who also chaired the programme, Principals and teachers of different schools within Mairang Civil Sub – Division.
