Manipur | Rebel group to boycott PM Modi’s visit over escape of rapist, drug kingpin

IMPHAL, April 4, 2019: Armed rebel group Maoist Communist Party Manipur has decided to boycott Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Manipur on April 7 alleging the government's involvement in the escape of rapist Th.Nando and drug king -pin Leikhosei Zou.

In a statement, the armed rebel group said that prima facie evidences showed that there is a possibility of government hand's to the escape of the two.

The statement further mentioned that Leikhosei Zou, is a former BJP Vice president and is a resident of Chandel district.

As the Chandel district has been inhabited by two major communities the BJP needs support from a specific community for the upcoming election, it alleged.

The group has called a general strike from 5 am till 6 pm on April 7 .

Electricity, water supply, medicines, religious matters and media are exempted from the purview of the general strike, the statement added.
