In a first, Meghalaya’s Dy SP DK Prasad to receive “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation” Award

In a proud moment for the state of Meghalaya in general and the state police department in particular, Shri.D.K.Prasad,MPS,Dy.Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong has been selected for the Award of Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation. This is the first time ever that a cop from Meghalaya will be receiving ths award. He is also the recipient of Indian Police Medal (IPM) and Governor's Medal besides many other appreciation.

Currently posted in Shillong, Dy SP Prasad has been a front runner for many creative initiatives within the state police department.

Under his leadership, Shillong's Sadar Police station became renowned for reaching new heights in cleanliness in 2016. He garnered the appreciation of the then SP of Shillong Vivek Syiem as well as the general public for his efforts in this regard.

He has also shown active support towards the cause of the third genders while also being vocal in raising the issue of animal rights as well as disabled persons as well as ensuring cleanliness in and around the city.

For his active participation in several social causes as well as his people friendly approach, Dy SP DK Prasad has been falicitated by various organizations in Meghalaya.

He also created a name for himself as well as the police department as a whole by bringing in creative solution over baton policing to tackle drug menace in the state.

Apart from Meghalaya's DY SP DK Prasad, Manipur's Laxmi Heisnam (W/SI) and Mizoram's SI Malsawmtluanga Ralte have also been selected for the award.
