SHILLONG: An innovative Programme towards ‘Police Public Awareness Cooperation’ to build a good relationship with the people entitled “Know your Police Station Know your Police: Your Security is our Mission”, organised by the Meghalaya Police, North Garo Hills Department was held at Resubelpara Police Station, North Garo Hills.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, S.C.Sadhu, DC, North Garo Hills said that without the voluntary cooperation from the Public the smooth functioning of the Police force would not be possible for the successful and smooth administration of the District.
“Police Institution cannot function in isolation and therefore it is established for the welfare of the people and their service is tirelessly dedicated for the well being of the general people for which coordination from the Public is a must. The presence of the Police body is required for proper conduct of all important events since they are the security provider for the people which is the mission of the Police Department”, said Sadhu. He also congratulated the North Garo Hills Police Department for initiating this kind of programme that would ensure friendly relation between the Police and the Public in future.
SP, North Garo Hills, Dr. Raghavendra Kumar, further informed the crowd that North Garo Hills will be having four Police Stations after the up gradation of Kharkutta Police Outpost into a Police Station (PS) as announced in the recent State Assembly Session while mentioning the contribution and efforts of the citizens and the political leaders for bringing positive development and cooperation in maintaining the law and order in the District.
Circle Inspector, North Garo Hills, I.C.Marak, a senior Police Officer apprised the gathering about the functioning of the Police Station and its difference between the outposts and their compositions. While also informing that from 1st March 2016 henceforth Resubelpara is no longer an outpost but is now a fully fledged Police Station and people need not rush to Mendipathar PS for direct registration of any cases like job verification and others as was the case earlier. All necessary actions can be now taken from Resubelpara PS.
Highlights of the day were brief introduction about the Police Station and its system of functioning to the students, Demonstration of some Policing Work, quiz programme and prize distribution. The Programme was chaired by Agatha Sangma, Dy.SP(P) North Garo Hills.
