TNT News | SHILLONG, Dec 1:

Indian Air Force assets – aircraft, missiles and associated equipment – are invariably high value assets.  Their upkeep and maintenance involve heavy expenditure making financial management an onerous task.

To help plan the management of public funds under Eastern Air Command (EAC), a three-day conference of Senior Accounts Officers (SAOs) of all airbases under Eastern Air Command got underway at HQ EAC on November 30.  This day assumed significance as the Accounts branch of IAF is celebrating its platinum jubilee this year.

The high-level financial planning conference was chaired by Air Marshal Anil Khosla AVSM VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, IAF.

Air Vice Marshal Pawan Mohey VSM, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration, HQ EAC, IAF, responsible for the overall financial management and expenditure for works services and other modernisation projects under Eastern Air Command was also present.

The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, IAF, laid emphasis on the protocols for procurement process, audit and use of non-public funds for welfare-related activities of air warriors.

Further, he emphasised efforts to be undertaken by all stakeholders to ensure public money is justifiably and judiciously spent within the given time frame to bring up fighting potential.  Cash Management System and introduction and implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) as well as Govt. E-market (GeM) are also part of the discussion during the ongoing conference.
