Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh receive the large chunk of rainfall during the the monsoon season and the rains have already poured down heavily in the last few weeks.
Weather forecasts for the next few days predict that there will be more rain to come which will be moderate to relatively heavy in the next 24 to 48 hours. Cherrapunji had recorded 181.3 mm of rain on Tuesday while Shillong received 28.1 mm rainfall.
Recently, Assam has been reeling under floods due to the incessant rainfall which has affected thousands of people and weather warnings have been alerted for the next few days.
