Free bus ride for women employees of Assam secretariat

Now women employees of the Assam Secretariat will get a free bus ride with the flagging off a free bus services under Sustainable Development Goal programme by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday. 

Flagging off the services, Sonowal said that providing buses to the women employees of the Secretariat was one of the budget promises and he was happy to have fulfilled the promise to ensure safety and convenience to the women employees.

The step comes days after the state government changed the office timing from 10am to 5pm to 9.30am to 5pm.

He also said that providing the free bus services to the women employees would help them to come to their place of work without any difficulty which he hopes would contribute to the development of sound work culture.

“For the development of Assam, we have to emulate Prime Minister Modi who works for 18 hours daily and render our services selflessly to stimulate development of the state”.

He also announced that  two crèches would be opened in Secretariat–one for children aged between 6 months to 3 years and another for 3 years to 6 years for children of the employees.

There are 464 women employees in the Secretariat.
