Former Nagaland Minister M Chenlom Phom passes away

Veteran politician and Former Nagaland Minister M Chenlom Phom passed away at Dimapur on Tuesday.

Late Chenlom Phom was a senior statesman in Nagaland. He was first elected to the 4th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1977 from UDF.  Thereafter, he was re-elected to the 5th, 6th, 8th and 10th NLA.

During the span of his political career, he held various positions such as minister of state, deputy speaker, speaker and cabinet minister.

Condolences have poured in from across the state.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio wrote “I am deeply shocked to hear of the demise of M Chenlom Phom. In his demise, the Nagas have lost a seasoned leader whose absence will be felt by all those who were known to him and those who worked closely with him.”

Rio along with his wife and family expressed their condolence to the members of the bereaved family and to everyone affected by this tragic loss.
