Tripura: New train from Agartala to Jharkhand to be flagged off on July

AGARTALA, June, 30, 2018: Tripura Union Minister for railways Piyush Goyal on July 6 will  flag off a new weekly express train service from Agartala to Deoghar in Jharkhand, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) chief public relations officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said on Friday.

In an official statement, Sharma said the train would be flagged off from Agartala railway station on July 6 morning. Regular service of the train would commence from July 14.

The Agartala-Deoghar train was one of BJP's pre-election assurances to aid thousands of devotees of the Hindu sect leader Anukulchandra to visit their shrine, Satsang, at Deoghar.

They had to previously take a detour after Calcutta.

"The specialty of the train is that it will be composed of 14 coaches, all of which have been fitted with CBC coupling. This makes them safer and crash-proof as compared to conventional ICF coaches," Sharma said in the statement.

Coupling is a mechanism which holds two coaches or a coach and the engine together. While the conventional ICF coaches have screw-based couplings, CBC couplings are used for Linke Hoffman Busch (LHB) coaches.

These new coupling makes coaches resistant to overturning and flipping over during an accident, the NFR official added. Union railway minister Piyush Goyal, Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb and others will be present for the inaugural run of the service.

The train will leave Agartala at 10pm every Saturday and arrive at Deoghar on Monday at 1pm. On its return journey, the vehicle will depart from Deoghar at 6.45pm every Monday and arrive at Agartala at 8.15am on Wednesdays.

It will halt at Ambassa and Dharmanagar in Tripura, New Karimganj, Badarpur Junction, New Haflong, Maibong, Lumding, Chaparmukh, Guwahati, Kamakhya, Rangiya and New Bongaigaon in Assam, New Coochbehar and New Jalpaiguri stations in Bengal and Katihar junction in Bihar. The express train will cover a distance of 1,473km in 39 hours.
