Tripura: BJP asks Centre to erect Tripura’s last King’s statue infront of Agartala Rly Station

AGARTALA, Nov 3, 2017: The Bharatiya Janata Party has urged the Centre to erect statue of Tripura's last ruler – Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Deb Burman infront of Agartala railway station.
The party, in a letter to Union Minister of Railways – Piyush Goyal, requested to resolve certain demands of extension of railway connectivity in northeastern states and to set up Bir Bikram's statue infront of Agartala Railway station.
"Maharaj Bir Bikram was an iconic figure for the Tripura people. To recall the contribution of the king for development of the state, we have demanded the Railway Minister to place a statue in front of the railway station," BJP chief Biplab Deb said.
The party also demanded for a daily Guwahati-Agartala Express train, one daily Agartala-Silchar Inter-city Express that would connect two big towns in the south of NE region, extension of Agartala-Silchar Fast Passenger up to Udaipur.
They also demanded for early completion of the survey undertaken for an alternate railway line from Pecharthal to Agartala via Kamalpur and Khowai.
