Meghalaya: Two time topper from Garo Hills wants to join Cotton College in Guwahati to pursue B.Sc Maths

After making a mark two years ago in the state's SSLC merit list, 17-year-old Rahul Sen, the lone topper from Garo Hills stood 5th this time around in the HSSLC examinations.

Rahaul had stood 2nd in the 2017 SSLC merit list securing letter marks in all subjects. This time too he did not disappoint – becoming the lone bright spark in a list dominated by St Anthony's School.

The Don Bosco School pass out is the son of one of the teachers of the same school, Subrata Sen and lives in their quarter in the premises of the school. His mother, Manika Sen, is a teacher as well and guides him through his studies.

The result has brought a smile across the young topper and his family and the entire Don Bosco Fraternity.

"I am very happy with the results. My success is due to the blessings of the Almighty, my parents, teachers and all my friends and well-wishers," said Rahul adding that he did not lose focus on his studies and believed he could do it a second time.

The young scholar spoke of his love for science and wants a future in academics to follow his parents' footsteps. He wants to join Cotton College in Guwahati to pursue his B-Sc and would like to specialize in Maths.

Rahul stated that he dedicated at least about 5 hours daily to studies, 2 hours in the evening and another 3 in the morning. He however is also an avid sportsperson, in love with games like cricket and table tennis.

"He would take up the challenge and do the tasks by himself. I am very proud of him," said an elated Subrata Sen, his father.
