According to the letter, the BJP has stated that the 'illegal propaganda' was aired with an aim and intend of communalizing the on-going poll process which is a violation of the model code of conduct.

Meanwhile, responding to the letter, the District Election Officer of East Khasi Hills has asked for the facts to be ascertained and to take actions as per Election Commission directives.

Speaking to TNT-The Northeast Today, BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said "It's unfortunate and totally unacceptable that a media platform is used for violating the Model Code of Conduct and also vitiating the atmosphere and communal harmony. Given the extremely serious nature of the incident, we expect the CEO and Election Commission to take stringent action under various provisions of law to ensure that such an incident never happens again on any media platform."

It was also informed that Radio Mirchi has issued an apology letter  in this regard.
