Meghalaya: Agitated SSA teachers’ association seek release of 3-month long pending salary!

Tura, August 10, 2017: The pathetic plight of SSA teachers in the state seems unending as the salary of many SSA teachers are yet to be released and the agitation persists time and again. And this time on, its the All Garo Hills SSA School Teacher's Association (AGHSSSTA) today sought the release of pending salaries of teachers that have remained unpaid for over three months as well as arrears of over 8 months from the state government.

In a release sent by the publicity secretary, Tronament D Sangma, the forum demanded for the release of salaries after receiving information on the amount being with the state.

"We came to know from reliable sources that the funds for the payment of salaries for the aggrieved SSA teachers and for the payment of eight month arrears is sufficient in the state civil account. The state government should have transferred the amount to the account of the Education Department," stated Sangma in the release.

"We demand to release three month SSA salaries (May to July) and also eight month pending arrears from the last year as per PAB 2016-17 at once. Moreover SSA funds from the MHRD, Govt. of India based on 90:10 and the state government should have given the 10% to the SSA teachers and release our salaries immediately without delay," added Sangma.
